The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) will be celebrating May Day in Durban KZN, together with the newly formed federation of like – minded, independent militant unions, the South African Federation of Trade Unions, SAFTU.
We call on all workers to march with us in marking this historical Workers Day as we celebrate the formation of a truly democratic, worker led federation. We will be marching against neo-liberal economic policies which are destroying jobs, and the economy. We are marching to defend our hard won rights in particular our right to strike.
We will show this government that workers of South Africa are prepared to defend their livelihoods in order to protect their families and communities.
The march will be led by NUMSA General Secretary Irvin Jim and the General Secretary of SAFTU Zwelinzima Vavi.
