NUMSA President ANDREW CHIRWA To Address Striking Workers

ANDREW CHIRWA, President of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) will be addressing Giflo Engineering striking workers, tomorrow Friday 06 February 2015, Giflo Engineering, Zone 15 Ga-Rankuwa Industrial Area, Main (Cnr 4th) Streets, Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria.
The Giflo Engineering workers have been a protected strike since January 12, 2015, as a result of the employer’s unilateral decision to undermine conditions of employment as per collective bargaining agreement.
Numsa remains opposed to the employer’s decision to change the conditions of employment without consulting the union and workers. As the union, we are fully behind our members, and failure by the employer to concede to our demands, we will be force to call a solidarity strike, which might affect the Auto sector (car manufacturers).
The details are as follows:
DATE: Friday 06 February 2015
TIME: 10H30am
VENUE: Giflo Engineering, Zone 15 Ga-Rankuwa Industrial Area, Main (Cnr 4th) Streets, Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria
Members of the media are hereby invited to attend and report.
