Numsa to hold a Media briefing on the ongoing strike in Ngqura Container terminal – Thursday 12 June 2014

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) will hold a Media Briefing this coming Thursday 12 June 2014, Bimba Mangqabashane House, 22 Pickering Street, Newton Park, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape province.
The main purpose of the Media Briefing will be to respond to the following issues;
• The purported claims of violence and intimidation by Numsa striking workers against non-striking workers;
• Claims by Transnet management that ALL our demands which led to our members downing tools have been addressed;
•  The unholy collusion between Transnet, SATAWU, Solidarity-Union and UTATU-SARHWU, to undermine our strike action, AND
• Numsa’s concrete proposals that can lead to the settlement and end to the strike action.
The Media Briefing will be addressed by Numsa Deputy General Secretary Cde’s KARL CLOETE and National Treasurer MPHUMZI MAQUNGO. The Briefing is scheduled as follows:
