NUMSA and FAWU’s pickets on Land Redistribution

Details of NUMSA and FAWU rallies and pickets in demand of Land Redistribution and Agrarian Transformation in South Africa.

Today, Wednesday 19 June 2013, is our National Day of Action, to demand land redistribution and agrarian transformation in South Africa under the slogan “Mawubuye Umhlaba”.

Approximately 20 000 members of Numsa and Fawu will go to work wearing headbands inscribed with the campaign slogan: Lefatshe (Land in SeSotho)….Ons soek ‘it (We want it in Afrikaans)! Mawubuye (Let it return in Nguni languages).

Inside the factories, we will hold lunch-time pickets and meetings. On the same day and after work, we will hold joint rallies with Fawu in major cities and rural towns of our country.

We are calling upon thousands of workers and the landless poor to join us on this day, as we table our demands to the ANC-led government and white commercial farmers, for faster land redistribution and agrarian transformation, basic rights and services for farm workers.

A national picket or demonstration will be held in Bloemfontein, targeting OK Groceries, Kind Edward & Ehrich Streets, Willows, Bloemfontein, Free State province.
