Light at the end of the rail tunnel

Cosatu Western Cape ‘s long fight against metro-rail to provide proper security on trains and more trains, had a “positive response” at a Section 77 Nedlac meeting on October 14.

Government said that from January 1, 2005 it had funding to implement a new security plan and to add 130 train carriages nationwide.

According to Cosatu Western Cape regional secretary, Tony Ehrenreich, the details will be brought to a follow up meeting of the parties on October 28 where implementation will also be discussed.

“If we are not satisfied with the outcome of this meeting, Cosatu will organise a mass march to Metro Rail on November 25,” said Ehrenreich.
