Numsa to hold a media briefing to respond to SACP/COSATU attacks

Over the past couple of days, during the South African Communist Party’s (SACP’s) 3rd Special National Congress (SNC), recently ended at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), Soweto campus, a number of slanderous, malicious and libelous attacks have been rehashed against Numsa, its General Secretary Irvin Jim, and Cosatu’s General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi by the SACP’s National Chairperson Senzeni Zokwana; General Secretary Blade Nzimande, and Cosatu’s leadership.
These attacks are being engineered on the eve of Cosatu’s Special National Congress (SNC) scheduled to take place next week, 13 – 14 July 2015, to opportunistically send false alarm bells and influence the outcomes of the Special National Congress.
Numsa’s leadership will be convening a Media Briefing this coming Sunday 12 July 2015, to broadly respond to these attacks, and publicly communicate its mandated position on the way forward in relation to Cosatu. The Media Briefing will be addressed by the National Office Bearers (NOBs’).
The details of the Media Briefing are as follows:
DATE: Sunday 12 July 2015
TIME: 12H00 (midday)
VENUE: Vincent Mabuyakhulu Conference, 155 Lilian Ngoyi Street (formerly Bree) Newtown [opposite Numsa Head Office]
Members of the media are hereby invited to attend and report.
