Workers demands on the strike were twofold; mainly about benefits and conditions, but there were also an express set of demands relating to women workers.  I spoke to two women members there to understand the issues and they were disconcerting to say the least.
The biggest issue was around the flouting of maternity benefits, 3 women had miscarried due to the stress of being sent home on discovering that they were pregnant.  Had thought this could potentially be usefulf for a strategy/campaign/further research/lobbying/publications (not sure, but felt that something should be done) on women members, more generally, drawing from Glencore for broader work across the union.
I am sure Cde Steve can help fill in more of the blanks and I would be more than happy to assist in any thinking around this.
