Inivitation to a public seminar: Professor Alfredo Saad-Filho speaks: "Brazil – Economic Policy and Social Movements" Thursday 19 September 2013, Vincent Mabuyakhulu Conference Centre (VMCC)- Newtown
TOMORROW Thursday 19 September 2013, Numsa’s Economic Research and Policy Institute will be hosting a public seminar under the theme “Brazil: Economic Policy and Social Movements”: 1980-2013. The seminar will be addressed by renowned scholar Professor ALFREDO SAAD-FILHO, a Professor of Political Economy at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, United Kingdom.
Professor Saad-Filho has done extensive scholarly work and research on the following contemporary issues: political economy of development, industrial policy, neoliberalism, democracy, alternative economic policies, Latin American political and economic development, inflation and stabilization, and the labour theory of value and its applications.
KARL CLOETE, Numsa Deputy General Secretary will be respondent. The Seminar will be facilitated by AZWELL BANDA. Various opinion-makers, academics, trade unionists and activists have been invited to participate.
