NUMSA AND FAWU KWAZULU-NATAL TO PICKET IN DEMAND OF LAND REDISTRIBUTION AND AGRARIAN TRANSFORMATION IN SOUTH AFRICA

TOMORROW Friday July 05, 2013, National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa), joined by the Food and Allied Workers Union (Fawu) in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, will be holding a provincial Day of Action, to demand land redistribution and agrarian transformation in South Africa under the slogan “Mawubuye Umhlaba”.

Approximately 3 000 members of Numsa and Fawu will be wearing headbands inscribed with the campaign slogan: Lefatshe (Land in SeSotho)….Ons soek ‘it (We want it in Afrikaans)! Mawubuye (Let it return in Nguni languages). The provincial picket will be addressed by the leadership of the ANC-led Alliance, namely ANC, SACP, and COSATU.

The Memorandum of Demands directed to the Ministry of Rural Development Affairs will be handed-over by Numsa President CEDRIC GINA.
