New wage rates for engineering workers (MEIBC) effective 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013
These rates are effective from July 1 2012 to June 30 2012 and apply to all engineering workplaces across South Africa.
The only company that does not have to pay these new rates is a company that has applied for an exemption to the bargaining council and has been granted an exemption.
If you think you are not being paid the new rates, ask your company if they have received an exemption from the bargaining council. If they have not, please contact your nearest Numsa office.
Or phone the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council (MEIBC) and report this matter to the MEIBC Agent.
The Agent can then do an inspection and if s/he finds that there is a contravention, the MEIBC will issue an instruction for the employer to comply with the agreement.
