Numsa held its NBC on April 16-19 2013 in Pretoria in preparation for 2013 wage negotiations.

President Cedric Sabelo Gina in his address to the 450 delegates attending the NBC highlighted the challenges facing the workers in the sectors organized by Numsa.

He said the metal workers must defend their hard won gains.
Gina warned delegates that there are claims by outside sources that Numsa is focusing on politics forgetting workers’ issues.

Workers are part of politics in the economy, like the threat to workers’ jobs by imports.

Numsa must fight against economic exploitation. Metal workers must refuse to be a yellow union. Numsa cannot focus just on the shopfloor issues, he said.
