The meeting took place on January 16 2013 in the Hlanganani Region and was attended by the NUM, Numsa and Nehawu.

The purpose of the meeting was:

• to hear a report about progress made in launching youth structures.
The NUM members indicated that the union had elected an interim structure at the national level and was busy holding public hearings for members about how they view the structure.

A full-time coordinator has been appointed. Numsa has structures from local to national level. The challenge is at the company level, where the union has started to launch structures. Nehawu is also about to start the process of launching structures.

• to present the WFTU plan of action and the resolutions that were taken at the federation’s 16th congress, as well as the resolutions of the first congress of WFTU youth.

• to elect a coordinating team for the WFTU meeting that will be hosted by South Africa in July 2013. Each affiliate was requested to submit two names for the team. Numsa nominated Chrisswell Kubukeli and Mawela Komane.
