The Eastern Cape region unfortunately lost two gender office-bearers: one had been dismissed and the other elected as national gender secretary.

They therefore had two vacancies. The new office-bearers were elected unopposed.

Azzedine Weston, the deputy chairperson, is from King Williams Town local and works at Fabkomp. Juliet Blaauw, the deputy secretary, is from the Port Elizabeth local and works at East Cape Wiring.

The election was conducted by Numsa’s regional secretary, Phumzile Nodongwe. Numsa’s national treasurer, Mphumzi Maqungo, was present on the first day and the regional chairperson, Vusumzi Petshwa, on the second.

Their attendance indicated that they support the gender structure.
