Numsa NOB’s to explain NDP to shopstewards

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) in the Eastern Cape will be holding a meeting of all its Shopstewards in the Port Elizabeth/Uitenhage area Today Wednesday 03 April 2013 at Humrail Park, Summerstrand in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape province.

The Joint Shopstewards Council marks the launch of a nationwide roadshow that will see NUMSA’s leadership explaining to Shopstewards through the length and breadth of the country what it deems as the neoliberalism in the National Development Plan (NDP).

The Shopsteward Council will also discuss a battle plan for the 2013 collective bargaining round for negotiations in the auto assembly industry; tyre & rubber manufacturing sector; motor components and retail sector; Eskom and in the smelting establishments.

Port Elizabeth has been chosen as the launch of the NDP roadshow because it is NUMSA’s biggest Local. The combined membership of NUMSA Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage Locals is 23 498.

Today’s Joint Shopstewards Council will be addressed by leaders of the Tripartite Alliance in the province and Numsa General Secretary and COSATU Central Executive Committee (CEC) member comrade IRVIN JIM will deliver the keynote address.
