Zwelinzima Vavi to address a night vigil tonight (Wednesday 27 February 2013) Methodist Church, Pretoria Central

After a difficult legal battle, the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) has been victorious in the North Gauteng High Court. The court confirmed the lawfulness of the night vigil this evening (Wednesday 27 February). The City of Tshwane had earlier refused to grant a permit for the night vigil although it had indicated that they had no difficulty with the protest on Thursday 28 February.

To avoid confusion, Numsa has decided that its members should gather at the Pretoria Central Methodist Church (cnr. Andries and Visagie Streets). They will be addressed by Cosatu’s General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi. He will address the vigil at 20h00. Bishop Paul Verryn will open and officiate at the service from 19h00.
