Hamba Kahle Comrade Zwelakhe Sisulu

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) joins the people of South Africa and the liberation Alliance as a whole in mourning the sudden and untimely departure of Comrade Zwelakhe Sisulu.

Comrade Zwelakhe represents a special breed of revolutionary journalists ever to emerge within the ranks of the mass democratic formations.

His vociferous and fighting pen exposed the heinous and brutal system of apartheid and colonialism of a special type.

Comrade Zwelakhe remains a symbol of the ANC’s led Alliance commitment to an independent and people’s centred media.

NUMSA mourns this gallant fighter and great servant of our people. We will forever remain indebted to his family and in particular to our departed struggle stalwarts, and parents’ comrades Walter and Albertina Sisulu, for donating their son to the struggle for national liberation and freedom.

In comrade Zwelakhe, we have lost a selfless volunteer and dedicated Cadre of the Mass Democratic Movement (MDM). We send our deep felt and sincere condolences to the Sisulu family, the ANC, SACP and COSATU.

We find solace in that wherever comrade Zwelakhe he is in the nooks and crannies of the universe, he is in the capable hands of other great freedom fighters in the land of the departed.
