NUMSA welcomes the plead guilty charge by one of the killers of comrade’s Bheki Chiliza and Dumisani Malunga

The KwaZulu-Natal National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) welcomes the decision by one of the alleged assassins, Sifiso Khumalo, for pleading guilty to the charge of murder of comrade’s Bheki Chiliza, a Numsa Port Shepstone Local Chairperson and ANC Branch Secretary, and ANC Branch Chairperson Dumisani Malunga.

The culprit through his legal team or representatives pleaded guilty with a false hope that he will be exonerated from a murder charge this morning in front of Judge at the Ramsgate Regional Court in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal.

What transpired in Court this morning has vindicated our long held suspicions that the cold-blooded murder of comrade’s Chiliza and Malunga was politically motivated and a well-orchestrated plot from within, and was triggered by squabbles over positions of power and government perks enjoyed by elected Councillors.

It is very disheartening and troubling that comrade’s can sit and plot, pull a trigger, and even worse kill their own comrade’s because of one’s self-centred ambitions and obsession over power and positions.

This is the most horrifying and dangerous culture facing our formations today.

We trust and hope that Khumalo when he appears in Court tomorrow Thursday 13 September 2012, he will spill the beans on who else was involved or took part in the broader assassination plot which led to killing of these two principled and great servants of our movement.

Comrade Basil Cele, a NUMSA leader in KwaZulu-Natal will be present in court tomorrow when the State hears evidence surrounding the killing of the two comrades.
