Jerry Tshinanne Morulane-was born on May 11 1963; passed his matric in 1984; and enrolled for a Bproc degree at the University of the North at the height of mass action across the country in the 1980s.

He was detained for two days by the apartheid special branch after repeated protest actions at the institution.

Even though he was not an ANC member at the time, he was forced out of the university together with other Cosas leaders.

Jerry was employed by a German company, Robert Bosch, in 1989. He was elected an alternate shopsteward in 1992 and a shopsteward in 1995.

In 1996 he was elected a full-time shopsteward and then local chairperson. He was employed by Numsa as an organiser in Madibeng local in July 2004.

He has served as a branch treasurer of the SACP, a branch deputy chairperson and chairperson of the ANC in Oukasieand as a chairperson of the school governing body.
