NUMSA has the following vacancy at its Port Shepstone Local Office:
LOCAL ORGANISER
Inherent Requirements:
• Matric or equivalent qualification;
• Relevant qualifications and experience in the field;
• Knowledge and in-depth understanding of Main Agreement absolutely essential;
• Knowledge and demonstrated interest in Trade Union movement, Bargaining Councils and CCMA;
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant Labour Legislation and case law;
• Knowledge of collective agreements within NUMSA sectors;
• Valid Driver’s license;
• Ownership of a Roadworthy vehicle;
• Extensive travel;
• Atypical working hours;
Competencies:
• Multilingual with excellent communication skills
• Even-tempered coupled with good interpersonal skills
• Be a self-motivated team-player who is able to work with minimal supervision
• Computer Literate
• Ability to multitask, organize and plan effectively
• Ability to manage time and resources effectively
• Ability to demonstrate initiative
• Conflict resolution skills
• Negotiation skills
Responsibilities:
• Co-ordinate and organize members into NUMSA
• Negotiate with employers on wages and working conditions of employment
• Prepare statements for cases in conjunction with legal department
• Attend Local Shopsteward Council meetings
• Attend and report to COSATU Locals and Campaigns
• Prepare reports on relevant meetings
• Advise Shopstewards on labour matters
• Represent members at enquiries, Bargaining Councils and CCMA
• Assist with the running of education programs for Shopstewards and members
• Execute any instruction given by Regional Secretary or through Regional Secretary by Constitutional Structures and Office Bearers
