NUMSA KZN RESPONSE TO THE ANCYL CALLS FOR PROVINCIAL CABINET RESHUFFLING!
15 February 2011
The KwaZulu-Natal National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) notes the reckless and misguided pronouncements made by ANCYL provincial leadership for the reshuffling of the provincial Cabinet in KwaZulu-Natal.
The ANCYL provincial leadership has chosen to use the bourgeois and liberal media, as a Hotline, to demand from the ANC and the Premier Cde Zweli Mkhize to reshuffle the Cabinet. These actions by the ANCYL are alien and foreign to traditions and values of the movement.
It is our considered view that the issues of deployment or reshuffling are internal matters and should not be used as a publicity stunt informed by the so-called historical radicalism of the Young Lions.
Numsa calls on the ANC provincial leadership to enforce maximum discipline or induct the ANCYL leadership on the internal processes of the ANC, including its values and traditions. The rantings of the ANCYL represents the worse form of lumpenism and anarchy.
This wild obsession of reshuffling by the ANCYL should be located and understood within the context of re-alignment of the aggrieved post the 2010 National General Council (NGC) of the ANC who are using the ANCYL consciously or unconsciously to defocus the ANC-led Alliance from its electoral mandate and speeding up service delivery.
We are suspicious that these calls of reshuffling are not genuine and they are informed by deep-seated and entrenched Kebble-ism within the ANCYL in order to capture state machinery for self-centred economic and accumulation interests.
As Numsa we will recommend to our federation in the province, Cosatu, to seek an audience with the ANCYL provincial leadership to solicit an informed understanding on the reshuffle. The ANCYL still remains a critical leadership reservoir and agitator for radical implementation of the Freedom Charter within the national liberation movement as led by the ANC.
We appreciate the militancy and energy that continues to be displayed by the ANCYL on many fronts. We advice the ANCYL leadership to re-channel its militancy and energy on youth development issues.
