Summary translation of "Yini umholi na?"What is a leader?People should learn to listen to the people that elected them into positions. Those who walk with their ears full of cement because they don’t want to listen to other people are so full of themselves.

Can they please listen when people talk to them and why don’t you want to hear others out. The Lord listens to us but you look down upon us.

Stop boasting because you are not almighty as God. So do what people ask you to do and don’t do as you wish. In fact what is a leader?

A leader is someone who is elected to lead other people and do exactly what those people want. Stop turning around to say that you are hated. In struggle, a person is elected to do the will of the people and be trustworthy.

It also requires that people should be truthful so that the struggle continues and not through lies. A person who lines his/her own pocket is a danger to those that s/he leads.

Listen and let me tell you, you are not immune from being disagreed with so that we build the organisation and the struggle continues and we build strong leadership. BG Dzanibe KZN, Dunlop Durban

Dear Numsa NewsThis taxi strike which is continuing against the municipality is killing us as workers and citizens of South Africa. We do not condemn the strike seeing that we are affiliates of Cosatu and loyal members of Numsa.

But we do ask for a resolution, seeing that parties need to engage and resolve the matter, because members are being charged with AWOL from work and others cannot buy bread for their children if they are at home without transport to take them to work.

Capitalists like these taxi strikes because many companies take advantage of workers and declare short-time. We may be workers of different companies but most of our families are dependant on that income of taxis.

So although we are not part of that strike, let us support and respect their decisions to take the struggle on, to win gains because without section 77, we won't win the struggle.

Food pricesThe cry of the working class is clear – the prices of food, petrol and oil should come down seeing that the prices were so high.

Petrol is coming down continuously – that's a good thing for us as the working class and the people of South Africa. Why then are we paying so much for basic foods? Even the price of oil is declining.

We as Numsa should start to look into this problem if this continues and nothing is done about it. We cannot be ripped off like this in broad daylight. Workers cannot even pay for their kids' school fees because of the prices of food.

If we as the working class must go on stayaways to be taken seriously then let us be united in the struggle against the high prices of food which are killing workers.Lucien Windwaai, shop steward, Port Elizabeth local
