NUMSA to picket at SA Steel Mills to protest against its relentless attack on workers’ rights!

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa will be picketing outside the offices of SA Steel Mills in Meyerton. Alfeco Holdings bought SA Steel Mills and the new management, has been attacking workers constitutional right to strike. 165 workers were unfairly dismissed for participating in a protected strike. SA Steel Mills ignored a court order and fired them! The reason for the strike is that SA Steel Mills, as part of its campaign to undermine workers rights, refuses to recognise NUMSA full time shopstewards and therefore, it is ensuring that workers are not represented. We will be handing a memorandum of our demands to management and media are invited to the picket.
