The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) will be hosting a Conference for Socialism in Boksburg, Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre, from April 16 –until – 17 April 2015.
The Conference is in line with Numsa’s groundbreaking resolutions taken at our Special National Congress (SNC) held in December 2013. The SNC delegates mandated the leadership to convene such a Conference, with the view to lay a solid foundation for uniting socialists around the struggle for a Socialist South Africa.
It will be attended by almost all Left parties or movements from our own country. The Conference’s strategic objectives of the Conference are the following;
a. Acquire a broad and general view of the relative strengths, weaknesses and opportunities that exist in South Africa for the mobilisation of socialist formations in South Africa, for the common struggle for a socialist South Africa;
b. Begin to contribute to laying a foundation for exploring the possibility of securing the greatest unity of socialist forces in South Africa, for the struggle for a socialist South Africa;
c. Enable all socialist forces to learn the ideological and political texture of actually existing socialist formations in South Africa; and
d. Share with other socialist formations in South Africa, NUMSA’s views on the struggle for a socialist South Africa.
Numsa’s President and the Numsa General Secretary will address the Conference. All socialist parties will also address the Conference.
For purposes of accreditation and logistical arrangements members of the media are hereby advised to send their attendance requests to castron@numsa.org.za before 17h00pm, on Tuesday 14 April 2015,
