Irvin Jim, Numsa General Secretary to address members of the media on the planned mass campaign against the proposed Eskom application to Nersa for electricity tariff increases

The National Office Bearers (NOBs) of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa), namely General Secretary IRVIN JIM, President CEDRIC GINA, 1st Deputy President ANDREW CHIRWA, Deputy General Secretary KARL CLOETE and National Treasurer MPHUMZI MAQUNGO, shall address members of the media on Sunday 13 January 2013, starting at 12h00, Jabulile Ndlovu House (NUMSA KwaZulu-Natal Offices), 129 Corner Umbilo & Che Guevara Road (previously Moore Road) Durban, KwaZulu-Natal province.
The purpose of the Press Conference will be to publicly communicate a detailed, focused, coherent and mass-based campaign that will be undertaken by the 303 000-strong NUMSA members across the country to halt ESKOM’s proposed application to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) for electricity tariff increases.
The NUMSA’s planned programme or campaign will coincide with Nersa’s provincial public hearings that commence on Tuesday 15 January 2013, in Cape Town.
