Trade and industry minister, Mandisi Mpahlwa will address the CC on industrial policy. The meeting will then break into commissions to discuss different policy aspects and sectoral specific strategies.
The CC hopes that the industrial policy session will come out with:
Short-term, urgent demands for the Jobs and Poverty Campaign.
Agreement on a long-term vision for production and ownership that will generate sustainable employment creation and equity.
Clear demands for each major sector of the economy.
Stronger demands for effective institutional structures and processes to implement Cosatu’s demands on industrial policy.
After the CC, Cosatu will publish a position paper covering these issues.
