Minister of Labour warns workers

MINISTER Mdladlana addressing Numsa’s 7 th congress announced the results of the Auditor General’s report of the UIF. “As a former principal of a primary school who knows what to do when things go wrong, last night I decided that there must be a forensic audit.”

The bulk of R44 million that has disappeared is due to workers who continually claim even when they have been re-employed. The minister sternly warned those workers that “the department will endeavour to retrieve that money, be it after five years or 10 years”.

The day when the worker comes to claim again, the official of the department will punch in the computer, there will appear the details, the date of their last payment and the official will deliver bad news, “you owe us money.”
