Key Numsa Central Committee decisions
Numsa’s Central Committee (CC) took place from November 3 to 5. The delegates took some important decisions. Here is a summary of the key ones.
The Secretariat and the National Office Bearers will visit Northern Cape early next year to establish what its needs are.
All locals must continue to recruit new members. Next year’s Central Committee will assess small locals to see if they are viable.
Regions must assess the union’s structures at all levels.
Membership cards will not be printed until 80% of members have been captured into the computer system. So far just more than 50% of members have been captured.
We must review the Motor agreement before the next round of negotiations in 2004.
Gender structures should be formed at local level and regions must empower women in union structures.
Numsa’s National Congress will take place in September 2004.
Government elections – Numsa will release shop stewards to campaign for a decisive victory for the ANC and prioritise funding for KZN and Western Cape .
Cosatu must discuss the current allegations relating to the Deputy President and the head of the Scorpions.
