Speaking at the 8th National Congress of Cosatu in Midrand, Johannesburg, Guy Ryder, the General Secretary of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) said that the working class faced a number of global challenges, but despite the power of capital, “no force is more powerful than workers united.”Brother Ryder called on Cosatu to win space for popular participation in Nepad so that Nepad could become an “instrument for working people and not work against them.”The General Secretary went on to say that Cosatu must continue to play an active role in international struggles against capital and that the WTO’s failure was a victory for developing nations led by South Africa.
